We have a group of six women that go to tea once a month. We have looked forward to having tea at 'Crown & Crumpet' for a while. We made it there today and while we all loved the décor, we were not impressed with the service or the food. Come on $8 for a pot of tea! This place is over prices for what they serve and the service was just so so. One of us was served cold Quiche and had to ask for it to be heated, then they forgot to bring it back. They did comp her lunch and that was the least they could have done. There are better tea rooms in the Bay Area that give you better food and service for your money. We will not be going back.

    Tearoom response:

    Dear Jeri,

Thank you for your review of Crown & Crumpet.

I am so sorry you and your group did not enjoy your experience with us. This was our first really bad review on Teamap and we are so annoyed with ourselves that we messed up your order and that you did not receive the kind of service we pride ourselves on. Some heads will roll this week, I can tell you!

I hope that one day you might re-consider and give us another chance and come and enjoy our Afternoon Tea Service, that is where we really excel. It is value for money, plenty of food, both savory and sweet and the large pot of tea in in included for every person.

I checked with the kitchen and they did indeed serve the quiche finally to your friend. I am hoping she enjoyed it never the less!

Thank you again and take good care,

    All the best,

    Amy Dean

Just went this weekend and was not impressed. I liked the decor but the service was bad and the food was lacking in taste. If you order the Queen Tea and they are serving the Tortaline Soup do not and I repeat do not have it. I have never had a soup that was vinegery and this was awful. The egg salad sandwich tasted like the refrigerator. We were not able to order the Lady Lety's Tea as we were told that was only done on advance orders but we were not told that when we made reservations and it does not say that anywhere on the website. So if that is what you want make sure to ask about it when you call. It took 45 min. from the time that we sat down to get our tea and for those of us who ordered the Queen Tea we did not get all the items that the menu listed. When the sandwich and other items were served we were told it took so long becasue we ordered different teas. Come on Three of us ordered the Royal Tea and three of us ordered the Queen's Tea. Needless to say I will not be going back to this tea room

    Tearoom response:

Thank you Jeri for your comment. I value

all our customer and apprciate your comment. I am sorry the soup was vinegary to your taste, some of our

customer that came that day had asked

for recipe. Our soup changes each day. We would have been pleased to exchange if I have known. We have added

another person in our staff to handle the

tea selection to speed up the process. Your table had 6 different teas and the

process of warming all the teapots and

each teas requires longer time than the

others. Please come back we certainly will be happy to complement you when you

return. I was reviewing what you did not

get on your tier, the Royal has savories

and the Queen has the soup and we

always give more than what listed on the menu. 'Lady Lety' a five course tea service requires reservation due to

time it takes to prepare and serve.

WE will correct the website to reflect

that. Thank you again for your comments.
