I planned a surprise tea & luncheon soirée for my Grandma's birthday and couldn't have been more pleased with my choice of Henry's Antiques, Collectibles & Tearoom, as opposed to any other area tearoom. Henry's was everything I was hoping for in a tearoom and beyond. When pulling into the parking lot you are greeted by the beautiful and grand old renovated church that Henry's is housed in, which I find just adds to the charm of the experience. Upon entering, you can either go downstairs to the tearoom or venture upstairs to find an array of different levels and rooms possessing a wealth of, well...just as the name says...a superb assortment of antiques and collectibles. We were all directed downstairs to what I now refer to as 'The Floral Room'. The decor was very feminine and elegant with a real traditional feel...not to mention the yummy smell of home-cooked foods swirling about. We had a reservation for 8 but only 6 ladies were able to attend. Regardless, the service was quite good. We had a starter of some of the best peach tea I do believe I've ever tasted...everyone remarked so. I only regret not taste testing or inquiring about their other selections; I was so contented with the peach that it never occurred to me. We had a choice of 4 different entrées: a walnut/apple chicken salad, a cheese quiche, a turkey/provolone/artichoke panini, and a shrimp salad. All were served with a green salad and cup of tomato/basil soup. We ordered every entrée but the shrimp salad. Absolutely no one was dissatisfied with their choice. I had the turkey panini, green salad, and tomato/basil soup...total perfection. I must say, I’m not a tomato soup kind of girl, but this was unlike any tomato soup I’ve ever had and was delicious. Then came dessert...again, perfection! The meal left absolutely nothing to be desired. Just wish I could eat there more often! We had ample time to eat and visit and weren't pushed out like you might find with some chain restaurants around Kansas City. When we finally did finish and pay, the price was more than reasonable. We found our way upstairs and did some shopping, great selection and something for everyone...literally, everyone purchased something. Awesome discounts for your birthday month and on specific items...that day it was jewelry and glassware. My grandmother actually found a platter she'd been looking for hanging right on the wall of room we lunched in. Did I mention everything in the tearoom in use is for sale? From the dishes, to the wall decor, and the furniture...it‘s all available for purchase. One of the best leisurely, ladies’ Saturday afternoons I’ve had in a long time. Thank you to the staff and lovely people who make Henry’s a truly unforgettable treasure!

    Tearoom response:

Thank you so much! We are glad that everyone had such a lovely time. That platter was meant for your grandmother as we had just put it on the holder! We hope to see you again soon.
