The Huckleberry Tea House
The Huckleberry Tea house was a very tasty, lovely surprise! My mom and I traveled from California to attend the Glasco Cemetery Memorial Day Services in honor of my father, Lyle Duane Guipre, USMC. The tea house was full to capacity with the holiday weekend but there was a very serene feeling walking in. The ladies working were most accommodating and friendly despite being so busy The celadon green waiting/shopping area had some nice 'tea' gifts, books, cards and a comfy sofa. After being shown to a table, a delightful young gal welcomed us with a pretty smile. Darjeeling is my favorite tea, served in a single serving teapot, covered in a cute fabric tea cozy. Oddly, the BEST part of our Huckleberry Tea House experience was the Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwich. I love BLTs and, by far and away, THEIRS is the BEST EVER. We also loved the cold strawberry soup - delicious. The triple chocolate layer cake with ice cream for dessert was the perfect ending to a perfect lunch. If I'd had my granddaughters with me, we would have thoroughly enjoyed 'dressing up' with the hats and boas provided in the hallway. I would definitely go back to enjoy the Teahouse again the moment I find myself back in Kansas :)
