Tea Upon Chatsworth
I live in Northern California and put out a request on the Yelp talk boards to help me find a place to host a tea for my San Diego dwelling sister, who is expecting her first child. The savvy reviewers over there (I didn't know about this site) pointed me towards Tea-Upon-Chatsworth! The staff worked with me over the phone to get our large party booked (note: as stated in another review, I was also told at the last minute my party number was absolutely final so do be sure of how many will be going). I just had to get on the plane and show up that day. They gave us a big table down the middle of the room and were very gracious when we ran presents up and down the aisle, took lots of pictures and stayed the maximum length of time. The food was very good, pleasantly rustic and clearly made with love. I dare say it was better than the food served at fancy afternoon tea at a certain high end San Francisco hotel! I thought the tea selection was plenty big, I wonder if it's grown in the past year? The white melon and peach oolong were both wonderful. I don't know San Diego all that well, I am told this wonderful little gem is in a sort of odd location. But I say it's worth the drive! It was so nice to see the other smaller parties all around the room, a birthday party here, a couple in their Sunday-best over there. The room is so cute, filled with mismatched china tea cups and other cute antique touches. Like I said, this is a real gem, a great place to celebrate a special occasion or person in your life.
