High Tea Cottage
This is a beautiful Tea room run by an exceptionally incredible lady. Last week we witnesses an old lady come and enjoy her 91st birthday, She and Jen chatted while she took her order and in general Jen made her feel really welcome. The staff bought out a small cake and everyone in the room all sang happy birthday to her. She then started to explain to us all how the china she was using had been the same pattern her Mother's had had when she was a girl and they had lived in the East End of London during the 2nd World War. With all the bombing, all had been broken and she was so pleased to see it again and be using it. She cried as she told us the story. While she was in the ladies room Jen returned with a box and told the grand daughter with her that it was a cup, saucer and plate in her great grand mother's china and to give it to her grand mother when she took her home and wish her a Merry Christmas from Santa. We all thought it was the most beautiful gesture, the older lady went home with a little Teddy Bear as well for her birthday. I have never ever seen something like this happen at a restaurant! This is a beautiful Tea room with exquisite food, lovely service and a very kind lady owner. I have heard that her husband is also very kind. It is worth a visit and we drove from Lancaster. There is a Tea room there but it does not come close to this one the High Tea Cottage. We will return again and again for our special occasions.
