  • The Milk Pail

I previously visited this tearoom when it was under a different name and ownership. I had a very positive experience at that time and subsequently recommended it as a venue for an upcoming book club review meeting. My experience this time under new ownership can only be described as 'unfortunate'. This is not because of the food or decor lacking but because of the owner's arrogance and complete lack of sensitivity towards its guests. When asked if we would like to say a prayer before the meal, the response was 'no'. The owner then stated, 'well, this is my house and we're going to have a prayer'. I saw no indication (by signage or other advertisement) that the Milk Pail was a faith based restaurant. The owner's belief that some of the ladies enjoyed his imposed prayer is a further indication of his lack of sensitivity as we were just trying to be polite so that he would let us get on with our meal and discussion. Overcharging us is inexcusable. The lunch menu clearly stated $11.95 for soup, entree and dessert. Charging us $20/person and then trying to suggest that we got a bargain is laughable. Where will a group of 10-15 people pay $400 for lunch ($26-$40/person)? Certainly not at a place that can't even remember a reservation. The imposed praying and teachings followed by being overcharged seems like a bit of a paradox.

    Tearoom response:

    Reena,

Sorry that I offended your group. Please not I did not overcharge your group, please do the math. $11.95 food ( spinach dip on baguette, cup of soup, entree, & dessert) $2.25 tea, $2.25 coffee, $4.00 pot of tea, 20% Gratuity, 8% Sales Tax, free mimosas.
