The Royal Tea Room & Restaurant
My sisters and I took my mother to the Royal Tea Room for her birthday and it was a very nice experience. We ordered the Royal Tea and boy was it lavish. The tea selection was huge, and we were impressed that our waitress remembered them all (though we would have liked to have had a list to look at). The cream of crab soup was awesome and the side salad was fresh and had a tasty dressing. We then received a very fresh and moist cranberry/almond scone with cream and curd, it was very tasty. After all of that we were stuffed, but no there was more! We then received a 3-tier of tea sandwiches, savorys, and sweets. Very nice selection, though the ham pate was a little salty and the crab puff a little dry...my favorite was the chicken salad on a homemade croissant. We tried 4 different teas during the 3 hours we were there, the traditional english breakfast and deejarling, but then we tried orange cranberry and spiced plum (very tasty!). We actually had two waitresses serving us, and they were very knowledgable and freindly. The owner of the Tea Room also came around to check on folks, which was a nice touch. Upstairs were three rooms of antiques, glassware, and jewelry. You could spend hours up there looking around! All in all, it was a lovely day...and we will definately go back!
