i felt this was overpriced for what it is. the food and tea selection is very poor. you must warn guest that you will dine on a covered patio with outside heaters on chilly day. also the antique store is very cramped and hard to get around even if you are able body. the parking lot is just a grave lot with no marked spots. also you can only have private parties no single tea goers.

    Tearoom response:

As the young owner of this afternoon tea location, I appreciate the comments that we receive from our guests because it helps us determine how to improve our services.

For those who are not familiar with the Hidden Chateau & Garden, the building was originally built as a horse stable by a silent film actor in the 1930's. It is now a Cultural Landmark in Los Angeles, so the historical society encourages a vintage look & feel. Therefore, it retains a more rustic ambiance than most traditional tea houses.

Indeed, the parking lot is not paved, and an old-fashioned wagon rests permanently beneath the trees. Personally, I found the location very charming when I first discovered it, and the dusty corral has now been transformed into a quaint garden with trickling fountains and flowering native plants. We feel fortunate to provide afternoon tea parties among stone archways on an open patio area.

After consulting with others, we decided to cater to parties who are seeking a private garden area for groups between 20 and 50 guests. Since we don't book parties simultaneously, guests are allowed to mingle and meandor as they please. Baby & bridal showers usually plan activities and open gifts beneath the trees in the garden.

Of course, the disadvantage of hosting events outdoors involves the element of weather. As a result, we encourage clients to plan events at other locations from October through early Spring. Once the weather improves, we can provide heaters if it's chilly, and we have a covered portico which provides comfortable shade during the hottest days of summer.

As another year is budding, we look forward to a season of growth and improvement. Thank you for participating in our development.
