Only one kind of tea available at a time. Not steeped at the table so I'm not sure whether they had a vat boiling away in the back. The tea, however, was good enough and served in very nice china. Small tea room with some odd decorations, but nice, cosy, and friendly. The shop is somewhat limited in its selection, but worth a look just the same. Overall I would go again.

    Tearoom response:

While it's true that we brew a 'tea of the day', we are always more than happy to brew any of our 35 varieties of tea if someone were to ask. We have chosen not to brew our tea at the table, as tea becomes very bitter if the leaves are left in the pot for longer than 5 minutes, not to mention being quite messy. As far as our gift shop, we are sorry we didn't have what you were looking for. Our clientele is about 99% women, so we tend to carry things that cater to their tastes. We hope that you will try visiting us again in the future.

Very lovely, unpretentious little place that I would recommend to anyone. I had the shepherd’s pie, which was very, very good and hot. Everything was served promptly and with care. The staff were friendly folk who were willing to answer all sorts of silly questions with no loss of patience. Their retail section is very good if you’re interested in some authentic English goods.
