High Tea Cottage
Last Sunday I was taken to the High Tea Cottage by a friend to the Spring Concert Series. Having never been to this tea house I didn’t know what to expect except it was a concert. From the moment I arrived I was surprised, it’s a quaint freestanding building what I believe was once a small house now converted to the most charming tea house. When we walked inside we were greeted by a lovely English lady asked our names and introduced to other guests who had arrived. At 2.30pm they served delightful hot and cold savories and appetizers and a “Chocolate Iced Tea” never before have I had a chocolate tea and it is something I would never order but as offered I tried it and could not believe the taste, like fine nectar! The concert started at 3pm with the owner of the business welcoming us all and introducing the duo who were performing, They were fantastic, Kim and Al, they had us singing along, clapping to the music from the 50’s and 60’s which brought back many memories. At interval we were served another lot of cold beverages while all the attendees mingled like old friends not just new acquaintances at a concert, we all settled back for the second half of an absolutely delightful interlude of music favorites. Every guest seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves and the entertainer’s were superb. Once the concert was over we were shown to individual tables and a full afternoon tea was served from beautiful tea sandwiches cucumber, smoked salmon, delectable chicken with cranberries to ham and curried egg salad. It didn’t stop there, fresh hot scones with lashings of jam, lemon curd and cream and to top it off, small delicate dessert were served and I forgot to mention beautiful hot tea. All the guests were very complimentary of the concert and the tea and I have to say that I have not spent such a wonderful, enjoyable Sunday afternoon for many, many years, If you get the chance to attend one of the Spring Concert Series at the High Tea Cottage definitely go, you will be in for a treat!
