After a couple of calls and no answer, I made another call one day to make a reservation and left a voicemail. After a couple of days and no reply, I called again. This time, a lady answered, and the reservation was made. When my guest and I arrived, the door was still locked and the closed sign was still in the window. After knocking a few times and no answer, my guest walked around back to see if there was an automobile parked to indicate someone was there. Meanwhile, I telephoned the tea house. A lady answered and unlocked the door when I told her we had a reservation and were locked outside. We were told to pick a table as the lady went to get our menus. She was polite, but more cordial than friendly. While we waited for our order, we notice a few more patrons come in. Each time, they were left waiting with no one to greet them. A few times, my guest had to let the staff know there was a customer waiting. We noted that one patron and her guest also had a reservation, yet were not greeted. When our food came, my guest's quiche had been heated in a microwave, and it was over-cooked. We both are excellent cooks, so this was apparent. The quiche portion was small, and the bread described on the menu was only one bite-size piece. My lunch order was tasty, but we both left still hungry. We made the drive over to the Cold Stone Creamy and had a huge serving of ice cream afterwards. The tea house is beautifully decorated. There is an excellent concept in the works, but much improvement in customer service is needed. When we visited the restroom, there were no paper towels in the dispenser. It was barely past noon and there had not been more than three tables seated during our visit. While eating, I couldn't help but note that something as simple as a bell on the entrance door or a chime that would ring in the back kitchen would help improve guest service immensely. It leaves a bad first impression for a guest to not be received, especially when they are supposed to have a reservation. We did enjoy the ambiance of the tea house, but it lacks other elements to encourage us to visit again.
