Sweet Afton Tea Room and Restaurant
I had my second visit to the Sweet Afton Tea Room yesterday--only this time I returned with my husband and two sons ages 16 and 12. They had no idea what a tea room would be like and were immediately encouraged that they 'would survive.' They were won over pretty easily by the friendliness, not only of the staff, but also the owners who probably do not serve too many teenage boys. My oldest ordered the chicken pot pie and was as impressed with it as I thought he would be--it is really probably the most delicious meal I have ever had in a restaurant! He also tried the blueberry tea and finished off the whole pot!. It took the second course of the high tea to convince my younger son. The scones were perfect--and the tarts--icing on the cake! I must also mention--we all loved the fabulous Ayrshire Cream. . .it is worth the trip just to try this dessert! What a wonderful way to introduce them to some of the finer things in life--and have a memorable afternoon together. Thank you Phyllis and Al for helping the boys fit in with your warm hospitality!
