My husband and I stumbled upon Sweet Afton Tea Room one day in November, quite by accident. While walking past the quaint and inviting window, I peered inside and that was all it took, we were absolutely drawn to go inside and have lunch. We were warmly welcomed, not only by our Hostess, but by the charming and quaint chandeliers made of tea cups, by the music playing in the background and by the gorgeous Victorian decor throughout. Sweet Afton's has an easy to understand menu, full of delicious surprises to choose from and the most delicious tea we've ever had! We chose the 'house' tea, Orange/Cinnamon and were absolutely blown-away by the flavor and aroma, just delicious! My favorite, Quiche Lorraine, was on the menu and I was so happy to find that it was as delicious as I had hoped! Entrees were served with a light and airy cheddar muffin which was to-die-for as well! Everything from entrees to extraodinary desserts (including Scottish shortbread) was perfect in every way and the presentation was magical. We were also delighted to meet the owner, Al Wilkerson, who explained the history of the Tea Room as well as treating us like royalty. Al is a very, very nice gentleman and he even remembered me the next time I visited! That is rare! The Sweet Afton Tea Room was indeed a treasure found on a rare day off from work for me. It changed a regular day into something very special for my husband and for me. That was the beginning of a new tradition in our family as next, I took my youngest daughter and my mother in as a 'Mystery Trip' and both were as delighted as I was! The three generations had a lovely and memorable time, we even took pictures to capture the moment...what a lovely afternoon that was too! To finish my rather long review of this 'Treasure', as a Lifestyle Director for Grand Court Farmington Hills, I have scheduled a 'Ladies Mystery Trip' for my ladies and will be visiting again with my bus full of ladies in about two hours! I can hardly wait to see their faces as they experience the Sweet Afton Tea Room. I know that they will love it as I do! Don't miss this true treasure!

    Tearoom response:

    Char,

Thank you for the kind words and your ladies from Grand Court were adorable. Welcome to the Sweet Afton family. See you soon.
