  • Temptation Tea House

The tea menu is weighted heavily toward bubble tea. That is not something I care for. For my tastes, which run mainly to greens, oolongs and whites, there was only one selection on the menu that looked enticing, and that was their 'premium oolong'. So that was what I ordered and it turned out to be *excellent*. It came in a large yi xing clay pot with a small sipping cup. Truly a delicious and memorable pot of tea. This tea house is also a chinese restaurant with a fairly complete menu. I had three appetizers to go with the tea, and all were very tasty and well done. The room itself is rather dark and not particularly elegant. I have never been to China or Taiwan, but I imagine that this room is pretty close to what one might find over there. As such, it makes a nice break from routine. The prices are not low, but the quality is high enough to justify the cost very well. The service was prompt, flawless and friendly.

While Lola's doesn't have 150 teas as the Silver Tips Tea Room does, the variety nevertheless is quite good. I've been here four times and the tea and the experience were good each time. On my latest visit I also ordered a tea sandwich--curried chicken--excellent!! The prices overall are quite reasonable. The pots of tea themselves are large--the '2 cup' pot would generally be more than sufficient for two people. The decor is modern and very attractive. The ambiance is soothing and miles ahead of and away from the typical Starbucks. This is a very good place to hold an event, probably unique on the sound shore for that purpose. The loose tea sold by the ounce is an excellent value. I believe the most expensive tea is only $3.00/oz., and it is very good. Cheers, Leslie, for creating a valuable 'third place' for us Westchesterites! Also, Manhattanites, please know that Lola's is only a short walk from the Pelham train station on the New Haven line.

This tea room is worth traveling some distance to visit. Their 20+ page tea menu alone is worth the trip. The preparation of the tea is exceptionally precise. You will never get a bad cup of tea here! As to food, there are many interesting selections. My personal favorite is the 'Tarry chicken'--quite probably the best take ever on the chicken salad sandwich!

    Tearoom response:

Thanks, Nate! No question, the Tarry chicken is a customer favorite! And very gratifying to know you enjoyed our perfectly steeped pot of tea. Our training is showing! Come back again soon.
